What's nice is that you can attach files straight onto a page, which means you don't have to hunt around for that one PDF — everything's right there with the discussion around it. And if your team's already using Jira, the integration is a huge bonus. File sharing works well when you want to keep documents close to the projects or procedures they relate to. That said, Confluence shines more as a collaborative documentation tool than as a full-blown file manager. The file conversion feature is handy for basic exports, but if you’re exporting Word or PDF files from pages with lots of tables, macros, or embedded content, you might need to fix the formatting manually. Support and online documentation are usually helpful for common questions. However, when you run into more complex permission, technical, or billing issues, it can take a while to get things sorted out. I’ve hit a few bugs here and there—mostly around formatting, editor behavior, and navigation—but nothing that stopped me from using it for very long. In terms of value, it’s a reasonable choice for teams that really live in Confluence as their main knowledge hub, especially if you’re already using Jira. For smaller teams with basic documentation needs, the subscription cost plus any add-ons might be harder to justify.
