In addition to the reasonable and scalable cost for our student population size, it covered all the functions we needed: student details, academic records, terms, programs, reporting and other basic functions, without a lot of unnecessary overhead (campus mgmt, transportation, dormitories, etc). Key features for us included integration with our Moodle LMS for student grade capture and SSO with Moodle to facilitate student access. ampEducator effectively manages our academic record-keeping and links smoothly with Moodle, and provides flexibility to add and manage additional student details as needed. A real bonus has been the customer support received from ampEducator, starting with setup assistance and extending to significant technical assistance with Moodle SSO - ampEducator staff modified their SSO component once to support needed integration with Moodle, and provided extensive technical assistance when the Moodle SSO component was upgraded. > > **Puntos en contra**: Although the built-in report-writer is effective within its limits, there are some kinds of reports we need that it simply doesn't support. ampEducator has introduced an added-cost Data Warehouse capability that probably would meet our needs but exceeds our affordability. We've raised several requests for code modifications, either for minor errors or improved functionality. ampEducator's approach is to either have customers pay for any such modification or add them to a development "hopper". It would be great for simple, straight forward companies / organizations but for more complex, higher education it is difficult to get what you need done which is what we experience. We have to pay to get special features created in order to get what we need done and later those features are given to the rest of the customers at no charge. I feel like we do help AmpEducator expand its capabilities so it's great for people who use it now. AmpEducator is limiting and there are a lot of workarounds and errors that come up. It can be frustrating. They are also building their LMS, which could eventually allow us to keep more functions in one system. They do try their best to provide solutions, but many changes or customizations come with an additional cost. > > **Puntos en contra**: The biggest limitation is the user permissions and roles. Many offices need admin-level access to complete their work, but admin access gives visibility to the full system instead of only the specific areas they need. This makes it difficult to assign access in a more limited or department-specific way. There are also limitations with certain features and functionality. For example, we would like to implement self-registration, but the current system has limitations that prevent us from fully using it without an external solution or workaround. New features or custom requests often come with additional costs, even though those improvements may eventually benefit other customers as well. At times, it can feel like we are helping with product development while also paying for the improvements. That said, we do appreciate that they are trying to improve the system. > > Overall, our experience has been positive. We have explored and demoed other systems, but decided to stay with ampEducator and invest more into it. Their team does try to work with us on our many requests and ideas.
